A Tank Through and Through

So I queued up and zoned into a Terrace run earlier on my warlock… I’m attempting to get her geared enough to do the green fire questline.  Anyway, we get to Sha rather easily and the first tank is fine on Sha… and then the second tank won’t step in the light…

The first tank died once from reaching attacks… I rezzed him on the platform.

He died again.  Someone else rezzed him.

He died again.  Someone else rezzed him.

They finally convinced the other tank to stand in the light but we were out of battle rezzes.

“IT’S A WIPE!”

I’m sitting there thinking that I absolutely do NOT feel like wiping, throw on Dark Apotheosis and step into the light when the other tank is crackled.  To my amazement… I didn’t die.  In fact, I tanked the boss until the other tank came back and stepped into the light… he then got crackled again.  So I tanked the last 50% of Sha of Fear on LFR… as a lock.  Props to the healers for the amazing heals 😀

State of Things

My main’s doing quite well at this point in the expansion.  I’m exalted with all the reps except Shadopan [16k/21k] and August Celestials [9k/21k].  I’ve maxed out every profession at least once, so I have access to them all on my main server.  I’ve gotten two alts to 90 – including my horde alt on another server [yay achievements!]

I’ve killed Heroic Nefarian, finished the “Glorious” achievement of killing the rares, managed Galleon kills two times [got nothing], am best friends with everyone on the farm and even have my second alt to 90 exalted with the tillers [and all I did on her was login, replant her farm and do the tiller dailies in 15 mins or so].  I’ve done a couple Firelands retro runs, and even killed the first boss of Mogushun Vaults with whomever we could pull together in guild and a couple out of guild friends.  We also got the second boss to 26%.

Pet Battles have been what’s fallen to the wayside.  I know they’ve captured most people’s attention instead of all the other but for me it’s been the reverse.  I really want to do more for that in the coming few weeks as I’d like to get the upper level pets and I’d be ready for 5.1.  It just… well the grind to get a level 25 pet seems so painful looking.  My highest level pet is 10 right now.

I would post some screen shots, but at the moment I am without my computer 😦  The hard drive died and since I have the laptop [and access to Venoym’s computer during the day], we decided it would be easier just to wait till the weekend to swap some drives about.  So, when he can move the data over, I will have some screenies, though I have posted a few things on twitpic.

National Novel Writing Month is this month and I have written a bit thus far…  I’m still not sure I’m participating.  I’ve already written 125k this year [my goal was 100k, but I revised that and raised it to 150k] so I’m not sure I want to push myself to cram another 50k in but I’m writing daily as is…  I may just see what happens.

From Death Knight to Jedi Knight

Well… we’ve been in a few days now 🙂  We got in the second day of early access, in fact [yeah we pre-ordered pretty early on].  It’s intense, but it’s been fabulous!

A bunch of old faces are around – Inq, Kanrad, Mikhaill and Khaella – all of whom follow this blog and most have commented before.  Of course, hubby and I are playing.  We’ve also picked up some of Kanrad’s real life co-workers.  We’re in a guild called “The Nerf Herders”.  I know, it’s probably one of the more overused guild names… we’ve seen at least 2 other variations on our server already.  But we settled on it and we like it 🙂  We’re on Shadow Hand – one of the more popular PVE servers, apparently.  For the last couple of nights we’ve had to wait in 30 minute queue times to get in.  So we start up the game early and either play WoW, or do something else while it sits in queue.

We hit level 10 that first night, got to 12 the second evening and have been steadily working and we’re now sitting at level 18, with our own starships already 🙂  I’ve got a couple of alts in the level 10-11ish range [getting to level 10 is easy once you know the basics… past that is more time consuming.  The altoholic I am, I already have one of each class rolled on our server, though most are still in the level 1-3 range.

But here is my main on SWTOR – Askevar, the Jedi Knight.  She did take the guardian tree [the one capable of tanking].  The most frustrating part at the moment is learning to keep threat…  it’s like starting all over again.  The main problem is that at low levels you have very little in the way of a method of keeping threat.  I did finally get a “presence” and a taunt… so it’s getting better.  We’ve done a couple flashpoints with guildies and some heroic 2s and 4s… so it’s just going to take time there.

On a further note, we are still not planning to quit WoW.  We did buy the access pass and such and are still raiding on our mains.  We’ll just have to see how multi-gaming works for us.

NaNoWriMo

42020 / 50000 words. 84% done!

Well… I’m in the home stretch of NaNo.  The story has come to me faster than I could have dreamed – I wrote my daily goal today in about 45 minutes and I even wrote extra.  I’m still aiming for the 1667 daily target [I like that blue bar to be full] and I’ve met it all but a 2-3 days.  I’ve even exceeded it significantly a couple times.  Each night instead of just laying awake trying to go to sleep, I’ve been plotting out some of the next day’s story [and I usually fall asleep before I’m done].  So eh 🙂  I’m actually enjoying it quite a bit and it’s not taking over my life.

This progress was probably helped along by the fact that our guild took a couple weeks break from raiding [we’re now back and working on Raggy again… just a hair from phase 3].

The lock I’m leveling with Endyme’s baby priest hit level 60 last night.  The undead hunter I worked on a bit during the 2 week break is level 50 [heirlooms and guild xp really is sick].  Askevar [my main] got the 378 tanking boots crafted the other day.  Hubby should be getting them tomorrow with luck.

So it’s actually been a quiet month.

On Leveling a New Mage:

No, I can’t give you food until level 38.

No, I can’t buff int until level 58.

No, I can’t spell steal until level 70.

No, I can’t teleport yet… I get my first self port at level 24.

No, I can’t decurse until level 30.

No, I can’t time warp until level 85.

No, I don’t have an aoe yet – I get arcane explosion at level 22 and blizzard at 52.

No, I’m not lying about not having above things yet.

Spontaneous RP and Retro Raids

The last couple days have been busy!  We ended up leaving our guild and joining another on Azuremyst.  We immediately got pulled into working on the last ICC heroic modes they need – we one shot BQL and two shot Sindy.  Had a few tries at LK but with the raid starting late, had to wait to kill him the next night.  Heroic LK is a crazy wacky fight!  From there we went to Ulduar to hit some hardmodes – Thorim, Freya, Mimiron.  We killed the general the easy way and took a couple shots at Yogg – No lights.

They’ve asked us to come tank for their alt team on Friday and we’re excited 🙂  They’re going to take a shot at Shannox with mostly alts and see what happens.

After the raid last night, my best friend [Endyme] logged on her Death knight over there and I hit a DK on another server and we did a couple instances, catching some guildies on the second one.  BTW, they’ve made lower level tanking worlds easier with the threat buff… or so it seems.  I was able to focus on survivability a lot more rather than fretting over threat constantly.

We then zoned back to Stormwind, expecting to wind down and log off, but apparently spontaneous RP happens – even on PVE servers :P.  I had hopped to my pink haired gnome toon and Endy’s DK was a pink haired gnome.  We ran across a few more pink haired gnomes, discussed conquering the world with our cuteness around a campfire where a nice dwarf supported our cause, had a pool party in the Stormwind fountain, then all accosted those silly Pandaren monks trying to bounce around and look cuter than us.
